Surface Based Air Defence Tactical and Training Simulator
Train the response before the threat arrives
GST² is the GMSPAZIO simulator for the tactical training of operators and controllers within the framework of integrated air and missile defense based on surface, land, and naval weapon systems.
It reproduces the behavior of a Surface Based Air Defence system in a simulated environment, allowing for operator training, procedure testing, the construction of complex scenarios, and an improved understanding of the entire operational chain.
From target detection to threat assessment, and from weapon assignment to engagement, GST² helps transform training into concrete operational capability.
System Introduction
Air Defense Training
In the air defense domain, the quality of the response depends on operator preparation, the clarity of procedures, and the ability to manage rapid and complex scenarios.
GST² was created to support this need with a one-to-one simulation framework, designed to train operators and controllers on the latest generation of SBAD systems.
The software simulates core elements of the weapon system, such as missiles, radars, launchers, system status, radios, and Tactical Data Link messages, providing a realistic environment for tactical exercises, operational assessments, and personnel preparation.
Training Objectives
From Procedure to Operational Readiness
GST² does more than just show a scenario. It allows operators to practice the critical steps of air and missile defense, replicating operational situations where timing, roles, and decisions matter.
The goal is to improve the ability to recognize, assess, and manage a threat, while maintaining consistency with procedures, firing doctrines, and rules of engagement.

Scenarios
Simulating the Complexity of the Operational Environment
GST² allows for the generation of air and space tracks with various mission profiles, from simple trajectories to complex paths with specific maneuvers.
The scenario manager can configure aircraft, cruise missiles, UAVs, and ballistic missiles, creating exercises that align with different training objectives.
The weapon system and interceptor missile can be customized through models based on radar coverage and interceptor performance.
Key elements of the platform include the generation of air tracks—featuring aircraft, cruise missiles, and UAVs on straight or complex paths—and the simulation of ballistic tracks, with threats characterized by space or ballistic trajectories.
The flight path generator allows for the design of specific trajectories and the assignment of maneuvers to different scenario entities, while the configurable weapon system enables the modeling of radars, launchers, missiles, radios, data links, and overall system status.
Exercise Modes
Immersive Tactical Training
GST² supports exercises designed to train weapon system operators and tactical figures involved in air defense management.
The software allows for work on firing doctrines, fire methods, alert states, fire sectors, rules of engagement, and control modes.
Through integration with C2 architectures based on Link16 JREAP/C, GST² replicates the behavior of an SBAD system compatible with Tactical Data Links and enables joint training between system operators and tactical operators.
Requirements
System Configuration
GST² is designed to adapt to various training and operational contexts. The platform supports the configuration of scenarios, weapon systems, sensors, interceptors, radios, launchers, and tactical links, allowing for the construction of exercises consistent with client needs.
The ability to interface with Modeling & Simulation architectures based on DIS Version 6 allows GST² to be used as a scenario generator for real weapon systems equipped with Hardware-in-the-Loop or Software-in-the-Loop interfaces.
